Rocking It for the Earth
6 September 2010

The Earth’s resources are far from infinite, so, with Arbour week kicking things off in September, let 2010 be the year for an astute shift towards the conservation of some of SA’s natural commodities! If you yearn to do your bit for the planet but are not quite sure where to start, what better way than with music?

This year South Africa’s music scene has once again gone green at Rocking the Daisies, a yearly music festival that promotes all these things. Rocking the Daisies has incorporated all practical measures possible to ensure hosting a green event since its initiation in 2006. An eco-friendly mindset is the kind of thing that slowly creeps up on you and before you know it, what seemed inconvenient at first, suddenly reveals itself as fun, innovative and ultimately changing the world we live in because it has purpose. Check out the line up here http://rockingthedaisies.com/lineup/

What better way than to promote this initiative with sound and a unified voice? This is why recording artists who support the green cause, would appreciate ACOUSTISORB, the ultimate answer to a greener sound studio.

ACOUSTISORB has all the energy-saving and eco-friendly qualities of ISOTHERM Thermal Roof Insulation, but with an enhanced ability to absorb sound. As a light, compressible material, ACOUSTISORB’s sound absorption qualities are exceptional in auditoriums, sound studios, factories, private homes … and even airports! Clearly it’s time for green-getters to unite.

Being eco-conscious is more than just having a festival, it is more than just a cool fashionable concept – it is a lifestyle waiting to take form. The motto at the fest is to ‘Play Hard, Tread Lightly’; which encompasses the concept of hosting a premier music festival in an environmentally and social responsible manner.

Have a look at what ways ROCKING THE DAISIES is working to do their bit:

And if music concerts aren’t enough, more exciting green things to come! Soon, the roar of aircraft will be substantially less intrusive for people visiting or working at Gauteng’s Oliver Tambo airport. Brits Nonwoven, South Africa’s largest specialist nonwoven producer, has been awarded the contract to supply the airport with sound insulation in the form of ACOUSTISORB. Brits Nonwoven has also recently been contracted to supply over 4000 m² of ISOTHERM Thermal Roof Insulation to a massive Amdec housing project in Muizenberg. Fighting sound pollution and fighting with sound these days is the only way to roll.

And besides using the best, remember that ISOTHERM and ACOUSTISORB are made from 100% recycled PET, and are themselves 100% recyclable. Find out more on Twitter and Facebook.
